Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, is an evidence-based treatment generally provided in group, but can also be done individually. We have offerred DBT groups in the past and plan to do so again, as staff availability allows.  DBT involves 4 particular skill sets that are cognitively and behaviorally based, all of which help people cope better in their lives. They are Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. Originally developed by Marsha Linehan for clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, this type of therapy has been shown to be quite beneficial to clients with a variety of mental health concerns.
