Psychiatry/Telepsychiatry

Craig Mental Health offers the only board-certified psychiatry in the area.  In addition to one psychiatrist who provides on-site services one day per week, technology has greatly increased access to specialized psychiatry. Through the use of telepsychiatry, clients can visit with a psychiatrist in another location via a television screen, thus eliminating the need for long-distance travel and long waits for appointments. People generally like the telepsychiatry option, once they get used to talking to the person in the television!  Sometimes a psychiatrist may request a one-time meeting in person.

Currently we have one adult psychiatrist on-site one day per week, and access to other adult and child psychiatrists via telepsych the rest of the week.   

Psychiatric services recently became available on the sliding fee scale (they were previously full fee only), and most pay sources that cover therapy will cover psychiatry as well.  Psychotropic medications can be expensive; if the cost is not covered by a client's pay source then we can assist with patient assistance program applications, which are available for many of these medications.
