Stimulant Drugs
The drugs in this category all stimulate the central nervous system. Though unrelated chemically, their effects occur through related neurotransmitters. Cocaine, amphetamines, and amphetamine derivatives are included in this category. Most stimulants are classified as controlled substances. Nicotine and caffeine are also considered stimulants but are discussed elsewhere.
